Join Me for a Mobilization for Women's Rights and the Planet Happening in NYC on Saturday

For the many of us who are traveling to New York for the UN NYC Climate Week, I know that the thought of adding one more event or activity is daunting. The week often feels like a traffic jam (and of course, it is that, too!) on our calendars as we try to show up for events that align with our work and to support others.

Knowing this, I am publishing a special newsletter this week to ensure that you know about this open invitation to join a Moblization (not a march, but a convening and a walk)  happening on Saturday, September 21.

Project Dandelion and many other important climate and nature focused organizations were invited by artist and filmmaker Tiffany Shlain to come together to show solidarity for women’s rights and the right to a habitable planet — both of which are under threat.

We will walk from Madison Square Park across to the High Line, ending up at the Nancy Hoffman Art Gallery where Tiffany’s awesome and inspiring sculpture and movable monument Dendrofemonology: A Feminist History Tree Ring will be on view.

If possible, join us in wearing white in solidarity for women's rights and forward this invite to friends and people you know in NYC.

And if you haven't yet, be sure to RSVP!

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 21st, 2024

10AM: Meet us at Madison Square Park, Farragut Lawn for a short program wearing white. Come together for an inspiring short program featuring speakers in the gender equality and climate justice movement along with select cast members from the Tony award-winning Broadway musical, Suffs, for the NYC unveiling of Dendrofemonology: A Feminist History Tree Ring, (that was last installed on the National Mall in Washington, DC) and on view in Madison Square Park. (Speakers below)

10:30AM: From Madison Square Park, we all walk together (in white) to the High Line in a walk for Women’s Rights and the Planet, then onto Nancy Hoffman Gallery.

11:30AM: We will then arrive at Nancy Hoffman Gallery (520 W 27th St) for an artist talk and tour of my solo exhibition of YOU ARE HERE that includes Dendrofemonology: A Feminist History Tree Ring, and other work.

12:30PM: -Break- We suggest Pier 57 for lots of great lunch options and checking out our partner workshops.

1:00PM: Fireside Chat at Pier 57 Presented by NOW: Climate Change and Gender-Based Violence: Supporting Survivors through Education and Legislative Advocacy. Seahorse Room.

All events are free & open to the public.

RSVP here and please forward this email to everyone you know who would want to be a part of this all.

Tiffany Shlain is creating this mobilization with the wonderful producers Elisa Parker, Lauren Schiller and our stupendous partners Dr. Nancy O'Reilly of Women Connect4Good, the ERA Coalition and many more listed below…
