I am so honored to be included in this collection of stories pulled together by Marianne Schnall. I'm joined by Madeleine Albright, Kamala Harris, Dr. Jane Goodall, Ai-Jen Poo, Alicia Garza, Kimberle Crenshaw and many others, in reflecting on the women who have inspired us and given us the hope and the fortitude to keep going when times are tough.
The woman I wrote about is Bella Abzug, who represented NYC in Congress from 1970 to 1976. In 1970, Abzug's first campaign slogan was, "This woman's place is in the House—the House of Representatives." She was a fierce, colorful, passionate woman and I hope you'll read my story in this collection.
There's no better time to remember and celebrate all of these incredible women as Women's History Month comes to a close. I hope you'll find inspiration and draw strength from their stories.
’Bella Abzug’

Along with nearly one thousand other women from all over the world, I traveled to Brussels in May of 1989 for the first-ever international peace conference convened by women. Proudly hanging on the front of the European Parliament building was a banner: "WOMEN: GIVE PEACE A CHANCE."
